probably... the greatest
football shirt collection in the world

This Liverpool number 9 home shirt came to us as worn by Liverpool's greatest ever goalscorer Ian Rush, from his debut season, 1980/81. With it being from an era when there were no squad numbers and clubs had very few full sets of kit, which therefore meant shirts were reused over and over, the shirt was more than likely also worn by others, including David Johnson and David Faiclough.

The shirt carries all the differences you'd find on players versions of the time. This is actually the same style that would have also been used in the 1981/82 season, with smaller embroidered Umbro logo and embroidered Liverbird crest but the sponsorless version which would have been worn in televised league and domestic cup games as well as in European competition. By Liverpool's standard's the '80/81 League season was a disappointment, eventually finishing 5th, but of course they more than made up for it when winning their first League Cup and third European Cup.
